Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are starting to wonder if they made a big mistake sidestepping Australia to instead begin anew to England.

In October, the couple put down an undisclosed "multi-million pound" sum on a 43-acre farm in the Cotswolds. However, their hope for a romantic, country life has turned out to be anything but idyllic.

Mere weeks after Ellen and Portia moved into the exclusive area, the region was hit with severe flooding, with repairs set to continue into the new year.

Although Ellen, 66, and Portia's property escaped most of the damage, a friend still tells New Idea: "It's been a nightmare.

Whatever could go wrong, has gone wrong.

"They've also had to make plumbing adjustments, deal with heating issues ... even their Landrover doesn't fit through the narrow streets of their local village.
