SOCIETAL PRESSURES AND EXPECTATIONS, PARTICULARLY ON WOMEN OF THAT ERA, INCREASED THE POPULARITY OF THESE ELEGANTLY DISCREET YET FUNCTIONAL TIMEPIECES.
