He was the longest-serving chief at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), whose role included regulating the financial sector, managing the government's financial reserves, and developing the city into a financial centre. Having been at the helm since 2011, Ravi Menon stepped down on January 1 this year, retiring from a 36-year career in public service, which also included stints at the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
