Bit young to be launched was my initial thought, but then I figured he could be taking the Jaden Smith route. Anyway, I clicked on the hashtag, and much to my disappointment it turned out to be the same old right-wing ravings about the âMuslim originsâ and âstupiditiesâ of Rahul Gandhi. Disappointment, because I genuinely thought the BJP bots were smarter than this. Surely, they realise that the pappufication of Rahulârather like wabi-sabi decor and Sabyasachi redsâis so last season? Like it or not, Rahul is no longer a lightweight, a dynast or a reluctant politician. Heâs sharp, heâs smart, heâs doing his homeworkâhis speeches are fiery, his rebuttals instant and stinging. He has self-appointed fairy godmothers on YouTube and the independent media and his championing of the idea of India, as envisioned by our founding fathers, has caught the imagination of the nation.

Political colours
One of the greatest fashion statements of recent times was made in the Parliament's winter session by Rahul Gandhi and some opposition colleagues. India's most news-making politician (since his landmark Bharat Jodo Yatra) gave up his signature white polo T-shirt for a blue one.

One supercalifragilisticexpialidocious New Year
Once Christmas is over, tension mounts in our home as the little woman and I start ticking off the days. We both remain on edge because we dread the coming of the New Yearâa time when the whole world goes crazy and adopts resolutions. We, too, make New Year promises and our âlist of past resolutionsâ is very long and impressive. Unfortunately, we are complete failures at keeping them and our âlist of resolutions not keptâ is equally long and equally impressive.
