CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION chief Kushvinder Vohra, who heads the National Committee on Dam Safety, spoke to THE WEEK on dam management, climate change and inter-state issues. Excerpts:
What are the steps being taken to mitigate the effects of climate change vis-a-vis dam safety?
Some key initiatives include Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) to improve the safety of select dams. Under DRIP, guidelines and manuals for agencies responsible for dam management are issued.
