The Hornets, whose FA Cup run ended at League Two Sutton in the second round last weekend, have done the West Sussex town proud with their exploits this season.
Now Fernandes’ Boars – who are also based in Horsham – will look to take inspiration from the Pitching In Isthmian Premier side as they chase promotion back to Step 5 after relegation to the Southern Combination League Division One last term.
Skipper Fernandes, whose brother is Manchester United captain Bruno, has five goals while top goalscorer Devon Fender has 15 and George Cousins 12 for the second-placed side, who have been watching on as the Hornets finally bowed out of the FA Cup at Sutton after being reinstated because of Barnsley’s expulsion.
“It’s good for the town and having us in the Vase and Horsham in the Cup is massive,” he said. “It’s a bit of an inspiration for us to go further and do more this season, looking at what they have achieved by getting to the second round. We want to get that one automatic promotion spot and win as many cups as we can.”
