The Hawks felt they had no other option but to resign from Southern League Division One Central midway through the season following issues with their new 3G pitch. Work to repair the surface was not expected to be a quick fix and other options, such as a temporary ground-share, were not deemed viable.
It left Harlow, founded in 1879, in the football wilderness, but they are now hoping to re-emerge in the Essex Senior League for the coming season. They are confident the pitch will be up to scratch for the new campaign and are eager to get back out on the pitch.
“It’s been an horrendous few months, but now we are looking forward to a new beginning,” Sewell told The NLP. “It’s given us the chance to have a bit of a rethink with the focus on younger and local talent coming through.
