KEEPERS JUST CAN'T BE BEATEN

BLYTH SPARTANS 0

HARTLEPOOL UTD 0

An uneventful first-half saw Blyth have the best opportunity as Trialist A saw a close-range effort saved by Pete Jameson, while Pools’ Mani Dieseruvwe put a tight-angled header wide.

Pools, back from a training camp in Scotland, created several opportunities to score in the second half but failed to truly test Blyth’s trialist keeper Nathan Fisher.

Joel Dixon, meanwhile, made a brilliant double save to deny Spartans victory late on.

Pools boss John Askey was happy with another 90 minutes for his side ahead of the new season.
