Able Evans is enjoying the high life with Quins
The Rugby Paper|November 12, 2023
JARROD Evans grew up in the Valleys of Wales, a "chalk and cheese" environment to the one he finds himself now in at Harlequins, but the Wales international fly-half admits he's been fascinated with the famous quarters from a young age.

Able Evans is enjoying the high life with Quins

The 27-year-old from Pontypridd put a turbulent tenth and final season at Cardiff behind him in the summer when he completed a move to south-west London along with fellow Welshman, Dillon Lewis.

And so far the move has been positive for both parties.

Filling in for Marcus Smith, inset, whilst the England playmaker was away at the World Cup, Evans has proved to be a very able deputy, notably winning the game down at Bristol for his new club with a late 45-metre penalty.

"I have come up here and I just want to enjoy my rugby and so far, so good," said the eight-times capped player, who last represented Wales in July 2021.

"It's a massive club, Quins, I've followed them since I was little boy. I remember some big European nights, those games against Stade and things like that.

"I'd have been a very little boy watching at my grandfather's house. They are probably the two best back-to-back games I have seen on TV, it was amazing, and ever since then I have kept a bit of an eye on Quins.

Hybrid Hash will tie Borthwick in knots

THE description 'Hybrid Central Contracts' does not inspire confidence. Hybrid usually means a bit of this, and a bit of that — and 'Hybrid Hash' would be a more apt term for the RFU contracts given to 17 England players just before the autumn series slump.
