April 6, 1995, to be cut-off date

In a significant decision benefiting numerous farmers, the state government has announced that only records post-April 6, 1995, will now be considered to verify a farmer's status when authenticating the sale of agricultural land.

For land held prior to this date, applicants will no longer need to verify how the land was originally acquired when seeking approval for new sale notes.

At present, farmers are required to provide a certificate proving their status as farmers dating back to 1951-52 when recording a sale note for agricultural land. However, an official statement from the government clarified that the Competent Revenue Authority will now confirm the sale note by reviewing the farmer's online records, eliminating the need for a Certificate of Authenticity. "When recording a sale note in the title deed, the farmer must submit an affidavit confirming their status as the actual cultivator," the release stated.
