Tata Sons continued to dominate as the country's most cash-rich private promoter in sector 2023-24, maintaining a significant lead over its peers.
In FY24, the Tata group holding company earned about â¹36,500 crore from dividends and share buybacks, a 7.5 per cent increase from â¹27,800 crore in FY23. Azim Premji of Wipro followed with earnings of nearly â¹9,100 crore through dividends and share buybacks in FY24-nearly 23 times the â¹400 crore mopup in the previous year. The Shiv Nadar family of HCL Technologies stood third, amassing close to â¹8,600 crore in 2023-24.
Other prominent promoters in the top 10 included Anil Agarwal of Vedanta (â¹6,800 crore), Infosys promoters (â¹3,745 crore), Mukesh Ambani (â¹3,322 crore), the Rahul Bajaj family (1,911 crore), the Hindujas (â¹1,800 Dilip crore), Shanghvi of Sun Pharma (â¹1,765 crore), and the promoters of Asian ΀ÎÎ Paints (â¹1,681 crore).
