King of good cheer on walkabout

CHEERFUL King Charles beamed as he spoke to well-wishers yesterday in another sign his cancer recovery is firmly on track.

The monarch greeted crowds before Sunday worship at Sandringham, Norfolk, where he continues to recuperate. And according to those lucky enough to speak to Charles, he was in sparkling form.

Joanne Barker, 57, of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, said: "I think he looks a lot better. He was walking well. He seemed in good spirits, he was lovely and had a laugh with us." The King, 75, smiled broadly as he left St Mary Magdalene Church before an animated chat with a gaggle of royalists who had waited patiently in the early morning sunshine.

Charles, wearing a grey check suit, purple tie and brown shoes, was not joined by Queen Camilla, but spoke to crowds on his way to a sermon led by the Rev Canon Dr Paul Williams.
