Soup and shakes diet 'can put diabetes in remission'

AN NHS "soups and shakes" diet has proved a game-changer in tackling Type-2 diabetes, with a third of patients now in complete remission.

First piloted by the NHS in 2020, the plan kickstarts weight loss for the first three months through low-calorie products like shakes and soups and is closely monitored by expert clinicians and coaches.

Healthy food is slowly reintroduced, with patients tracking their progress in one-to-ones, group sessions and online.

Now a study of data has revealed its huge success as patients not only shed weight an average loss of 2st 5lb - but 32% have seen their Type-2 diabetes go into remission.
