Allergy training was a tick box exercise... the consequence is that my daughter is no longer here

THE mum of a girl who died after just one sip of a hot chocolate has criticised food firms for treating allergy training as a "tick box exercise".

Hannah Jacobs, 13, had an anaphylactic reaction to the drink at a Costa outlet in February 2023 and died hours later in hospital.

Hannah's mum Abi Duyile said allergy training "is really not taken seriously enough" and called for warning stickers on all coffee cups.

Yesterday, a statement read on Ms Duyile's behalf at East London coroner's court said: "Hannah had known from a young age what her allergies were and took them very seriously.
