AN extra 11,000 people may die early from heart attacks and strokes by 2035 unless urgent action is taken.

The British Heart Foundation says deaths are rising for the first time in almost six decades.

It blames late diagnoses, delayed ops and long ambulance waits.

Latest data shows cardiovascular disease killed 39,000 under-75s in England in 2022.

Modelling by the charity suggests that could rise to 44,000 by 2035.

But a 25% improvement in outcomes, driven by more money for research and action to tackle health inequalities, obesity and smoking, would cut that figure to 33,000.

However, the BHF believes radical measures are needed to make this projection a reality.
