MATTHEW Perry's personal assistant, two doctors and an alleged drug dealer have been charged over the Friends actor's death from an overdose.

An acquaintance of the star was also charged after an investigation to uncover who supplied the 54-year-old with the illegally prescribed ketamine that caused his death.

Dr Salvador Plasencia, known as Dr P, who worked at an urgent care centre, allegedly sought to get the drug to Matthew, despite knowing his history of drug abuse.

He is alleged to have swapped texts with another doctor, Mark Chavez, with messages reading: "I wonder how much this moron will pay" and "let's find out".

Police in California executed search warrants to seize computers and phones, and government prosecutors say they have brought federal charges.

They claim Matthew's aide Kenneth Iwamasa and an acquaintance, Erik Fleming, worked with the physicians and the dealer to obtain thousands of dollars worth of ketamine for the star.
