Liz Taylor dad called her a whore over her affair with Richard Burton

ELIZABETH Taylor endured venomous criticism from even her own father when news of her affair with Richard Burton emerged.

The Hollywood great spoke about the tumultuous time in a recording that has only just come to light.

Speaking to US reporter Richard Meryman in the mid-1960s, she said of art dealer dad Francis Lenn Taylor: "My father called me a whore."

The adulterous romance began on the set of Cleopatra, with Taylor in the title role and Welshman Burton playing Mark Antony.

Elizabeth was with husband No4, Eddie Fisher, and Burton was still married to his first wife Sybil Christopher.

She recalled one particularly vicious attack when the affair became public knowledge in 1962 from the Catholic Church.
