TWO D-Day veterans have been inundated with letters of thanks from strangers all over the world for their heroics 80 years ago.
Cliff Brown was on a landing craft. which delivered US troops to Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944.
The Royal Navy seaman was washed ashore when his craft was blown up and survived eight hours of being shot at by the enemy.
Peter Lovett landed a few miles along the Normandy coast at Juno Beach. He waded through the bodies of dead Canadian troops to reach the beach and guard German prisoners.
Eight decades on, the pair have received nearly 50 heartfelt thank-you cards thanks to The Handwritten Letter Appreciation Society.
Dinah Johnson organised the D-Day 80 Thank You Card Drop for the two veterans, from Swanage, Dorset.
