Class joker Eric's ropy school reports to go under hammer

ERIC Morecambe was a grade A pupil at clowning around, unearthed school reports show.

Fans may not be too surprised to hear the comic who would bring sunshine to the nation with Ernie Wise was viewed by teachers as a bit of a rascal.

Class report cards branded him "noisy and fond of wasting time" with "poor, untidy written work" and who was "absent for most of the school term". He also missed many of his exams, the write-ups from 1936 to 1940 reveal.
