GRENFELL families must receive justice and see those to blame for the deadly blaze prosecuted, a leading campaigner is warning.
The long-running inquiry's second report will be published today, spelling out how the West London tower block came to be in a condition that allowed a fire to claim the lives of 72 people.
But Yvette Williams, from Justice4Grenfell, told the Mirror that today is "not a day of justice" for bereaved families.
Instead, she said those whose lives were torn apart by the 2017 disaster will be traumatised again as that dreadful night is recounted but no one will be properly held to account.
Ms Williams said: "We're not asking for special treatment but we want the people who are complicit with the cause of the fire to be treated like everyday, ordinary citizens. It has to be that they face prosecution.
"Today is not a day of justice because nothing has been concluded in a real way. We know the report will be truthful but we heard that in the inquiry. There may be good recommendations but this is just another step.
"Some people might see that as a step forward but others might see it as a step backward because every time this comes up, the bereaved families get re-traumatised. They have to reread what happened to their loved ones and then wait to see if anyone is prosecuted. Restarting that wait retraumatises them."
