Tot feared drowned after falling into swollen river

A DAD leapt into a flooded river in a desperate bid to rescue his two-year-old son, but the toddler is feared to have drowned.

The boy, who was on a concrete part of a towpath with his family, is believed to have slipped from his dad's grip and fallen into the water.

Locals said the father dived in but the youngster had already been washed downstream by the swollen river's strong current. The dad swam to safety and was checked at hospital as a precautionary measure before being discharged.
