Tycoons slam SNP for 'public transport crisis' due to lack of investment in bus network

SCOTS bus tycoons James and Sandy Easdale yesterday accused the SNP government of sparking a public transport "crisis" in Scotland.

The billionaire brothers, owners of McGill's Buses, took aim at Holyrood ministers over service cuts across the country. And they hit out at "a severe lack of joined-up thinking" that has led to bus passengers being penalised with routes cut and fares inflated while nationalised ScotRail is heavily subsidised.

McGill's is among several Scots bus operators who have been forced in recent months to cut services amid a cash squeeze, with passenger numbers struggling to recover to pre-Covid levels.

Rival politicians previously warned bus networks are "on the brink of collapse".
