MHAIRI Black is stepping down as an MP at the next election amid a flood of SNP politicians planning to quit.
The SNP deputy Westminster leader yesterday called the Coomons a “toxic workplace” that had taken its toll on her “body and mind”.
Black’s announcement is the latest in a long line of SNP MPs planning to step down, with six now saying they won’t be standing for re-election.
The Daily Record understands several more MPs are planning to quit.
Black was tipped as a future SNP leader when she came to prominence in 2015 as the UK’s youngest MP – aged just 20.
In a big scalp for the SNP, she took the Paisley and Renfrewshire South seat from then L abour shadow foreign secretary Douglas Alexander.
Asked why she was quitting, Black said: “Honestly, because I’m tired, is a big part of it. And the thing that makes me tired is Westminster.
“I think it is one of the most unhealthy workplaces that you could ever be in. It’s a toxic environment.
