THE First Minister’s brother-in-law has appeared in court accused of the abduction and extortion of a man shortly before he plunged to his death from a block of flats.

Ramsay El-Nakla is accused, with three others, of being involved in events in the run-up to the death of Ryan Munro.

Ryan was seriously hurt after sustaining head injuries in a 30ft fall from a flat window in Morgan Street, Dundee, on January 10. He died a week later in hospital.

El-Nakla’s sister, psychotherapist Nadia El-Nakla, is the wife of First Minister Humza Yousaf.

Yousaf ’s office said that it would not comment on a live police investigation after yesterday’s court hearing and Nadia has not commented on her brother’s arrest.

Her brother appeared briefly in private at Dundee Sheriff Court after being held overnight in custody. He faces charges of abducting Ryan and extorting money from him.

The petition alleges that he was acting alongside Jennifer Souter, Stephen Stewart and Victoria McGowan in the abduction of Ryan at the flat in Dundee.

It is alleged that between January 9 and 10, the four abducted Ryan and placed him in a state of fear and alarm by making threats of violence and intimidation and detaining him against his will.
