BURNED BODY IS NOT SUSPICIOUS

THE death of a man whose burned body was found on a football pitch is not being treated as suspicious by the police.

The man's remains were discovered by a dog walker on the grounds behind Margaret Drive, Motherwell, at about 9am on Saturday.

Emergency crews had raced to the scene, with police launching a probe into the incident which they said at the time was "unexplained".

A cordon was erected as forensic officers carried out their work.

Officers said they did not believe there were suspicious circumstances relating to the death.

While formal identification had still to take place last night, the man's next of kin were informed of the death.
