A TEENAGER poured Coca-Cola over himself to douse flames after an aerosol can exploded in a freak accident.

Aiden McGee, 14, had been walking along a canal with friends when they noticed a fire.

The group went over to inspect the small blaze but after just a few seconds an aerosol can exploded which "blew him backwards".

It caused severe burns across the youngster's hands and the left side of his face with his skin peeling, face blistered, eyebrows burnt off, and hair singed.

Dad Will told how his son poured cola on himself to dampen the flames in Linnvale, Clydebank, on Monday.

He said: "Aiden told me that an explosion came out of a can and it blew him backwards. It had burnt all his face and his hands. He had a bottle of Coca-Cola on him, so he poured it all over himself to cool down.
