Norrie reveals how return to college and practise with Carlos inspired win

CAM NORRIE revealed a return to his American college and practising with Carlos Alcaraz inspired the fastest win of his Grand Slam career.

The British No.1 had suffered three consecutive first round defeats since his shock loss to breakout star Christopher Eubanks at Wimbledon.

But the world No.16 found his old form on Court 11 yesterday as he needed only 91 minutes to thrash Russian Alexander Shevchenko with a 6-3 6-2 6-2 success.

"I was pretty nervous going into the tournament - I had had a couple of tough losses coming in," said last year's Wimbledon semi-finalist.

"I always feel good coming to New York, and I think I was really hungry to get a win. I gave him nothing.
