Cancer patient hits out at major NHS data breach

A CANCER patient has hit out after his medical records were "inappropriately" accessed by a health board staff member.

Martin Laing received a letter from NHS Lothian last week telling him of the data breach, which is understood to have affected 90 people.

The 57-year-old, who has leukaemia and pancreatic cancer, has spoken to police who have launched a probe.

But he feels he has been "left in the dark" about the circumstances of the breach.
