CHOC DEATH MUM SLAMS FOOD FIRMS

THE mum of a girl who died after one sip of a hot chocolate has slated food firms for treating allergy training as a "tick box exercise".

Hannah Jacobs, 13, had an anaphylactic reaction to the drink at a Costa outlet in February 2023 and died hours later in hospital.

She was diagnosed with severe allergies to dairy, egg, fish and wheat when she was a toddler, an inquest heard.

Hannah's mum, Abi Duyile, said allergy training "is really not taken seriously enough" and called for warning stickers on all coffee cups.

Yesterday, a statement read on Abi's behalf at East London coroner's court said: "Hannah had known from a young age what her allergies were and took them very seriously.
