A RISE in violence in schools has seen massive payouts for teachers assaulted by pupils.
One teacher was seriously injured when attacked in the classroom and was awarded £180,000 in compensation.
Today the country's largest teaching union, the EIS, has called for health and safety to be a priority to ensure a secure environment for staff and pupils.
The Daily Record's Our Kids... Our Future campaign has highlighted the epidemic of violence among youngsters. We have told of data from the EIS, the Scottish Government and OECD revealing rising abusive incidents in schools, including how one in five female teachers face attacks every week.
