COURT RULES ON ANTI-GERS SLUR

SENIOR sheriffs have ruled using the word "hun" to describe Rangers supporters is sectarian abuse.

A man who directed the slur at two police officers argued it was slang that had no religious connotations.

David Di Pinto had been convicted of a breach of the peace aggravated by religious prejudice at the Scottish League Cup Final between Celtic and Hibernian at Hampden Park in December 2021.

A trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court heard he shouted and swore, calling two officers "hun C***S".

He was fined £500 and banned from matches for 12 months.
