AT least 68 people died when a plane crashed near an airport in Nepal yesterday.

Six children are believed to be among the casualties of the Yeti Airlines flight that plunged into a deep ravine near a residential area.

Witnesses claim the pilot tried to steer away from civilians on the ground as the plane went down near Pokhara.

Videos show the aircraft flying low over a populated area before one wing suddenly dips.

It then crashes to the ground before bursting into flames.

Emergency workers tried to douse the flames with hoses while the public helped carry bodies away from the site.
