DUNDEE LOOKS AFTER ITS OWN

A SCOTLAND fan who suffered a broken back in a horror crash in Germany has thanked the Tartan Army for rallying to help him.

Gary Ellis, from Dundee, flew to the Euros with four pals when they were involved in the smash near Weeze airport close to the Dutch border in their hire car.

A fundraiser was set up by close friend Graham Pert to help Gary's family rush to his bedside.

And last night Gary thanked fans, friends and family for their help.

He said: "Thanks everyone for all the messages and Graham for setting this up for me and my family. Hopefully I will get back to Dundee soon.

Almost 200 people donated to the fundraiser, which was last night sitting at £7300.

His mum, Mandy Coleman, said: "Words fail to describe how overwhelmed we are with all the love and support we are receiving for Gary. As you know he's still in hospital in Germany and awaiting surgery. We will be at his bedside and won't be coming home without him.

"Dundee really does look after its own."

The 23-year-old was a passenger in a rental Citroen C3 which collided with an S-class Mercedes outside Weeze Airport just after midnight on Friday.
