SIR Jeffrey Donaldson yesterday quit as leader of Northern Ireland's DUP after being charged with historical sex offences.
The 61-year-old is due to appear in court on April 24 having been arrested and charged in relation to non-recent sexual allegations.
A woman, 57, was charged with aiding and abetting additional offences, in relation to the same police investigation.
Donaldson, suspended by his party, stepped immediately and MP Gavin Robinson was appointed the interim party leader.
