Declan vows to pay back gaffer Jim for the faith he has had

DECLAN GLASS has vowed to repay Dundee United boss Jim Goodwin for showing trust and belief in him.

Glass has had more than his fair share of ups and downs in recent years, suffering a serious knee injury and being sent on loan six times.

The midfielder was farmed out once again at the start of this year for what proved to be an ill-fated second spell at Cove Rangers.

The 23-year-old spent most of his time on the bench for Paul Hartley's side, while back at Tannadice he was sent to train with the kids.

However, when Goodwin took charge of the Tangerines in March, he immediately made Glass feel wanted again and the player admits he owes his manager a big debt of gratitude.

Glass said: "The gaffer puts big demands on everybody and expects you to come in every day and work your socks off.

"That's the sort of team we are - we are hard working but with good quality. I don't think there is any secret in that.

"Personally he has been great with me.
