Grace died trying to save her friend from knifeman

THE family of Nottingham rampage victim Grace O'Malley-Kumar said she died a hero, trying to protect her friend from a crazed knifeman.

Student Grace was stabbed to death alongside Barnaby Webber as they walked home from a night out with pals.

The talented hockey player could have fled after paranoid schizophrenic Valdo Calocane attacked her friend with a terrifying dagger.

But instead she heroically tried to tackle the heavily armed knifeman bravery that ended up costing Grace, 19, her life. Grace, from Woodford, suffered defensive wounds to her arms and hands as she tried to stop Calocane attacking Barnaby, also 19.

Her brother James, 17, said: "She tried her best to save her friend. That was how Grace lost her life.
