Security staff at two airports set for strike ballot in pay and breaks row

SCOTTISH airports could be facing chaos this summer as staff are to be balloted for strike action amid a row over breaks and pay.

Travellers booked for sunny getaways may be faced with disruption on major holiday routes at Glasgow and Aberdeen airports as industrial action poses threats to departure and arrival times.

Unite the union, which represents the workers, confirmed 300 members of security staff between both facilities are set to be balloted for strikes.

It comes after the ICTS Central Search employees rejected a pay offer from the security provider company. Unite says its members emphatically rejected a basic pay rise of four per cent backdated to january, and a £500 one-off payment.
