I had to sleep in van for 10 weeks

A WHEELCHAIR user says she has had to sleep in her freezing van in a hospital car park for 10 weeks while her husband is treated for an illness.

Dr Caroline Gould said she could not find suitable accommodation in Inverness due to demand for hotel rooms after her husband Denis was transferred to the city's Raigmore Hospital from their hospital on Skye.

Denis, 72, a retired bank manager, had expected to be discharged home to Broadford on Tuesday but a care package discussed three weeks ago was still not in place.

Today it was still not clear if Denis would be discharged home.

Caroline said: "All I want is for us to be home for Christmas where I can hug my husband again. I haven't been able to do that for 10 weeks because of wheelchair access issues."
