Flying winger Fraser reveals he has fallen back in love with football during spell at Saints ... even if he's still not feeling the love from some people within game

REBORN Ryan Fraser is making a growing case for a spot in Scotland's squad for Euro 2024.

The abilities and talent of the now 29-year-old former Aberdeen, Bournemouth and Newcastle winger have never been in question.

But Fraser, starting to shine on loan at Southampton, admits that moments in his career have seen him saddled: with an unwanted reputation for being difficult.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke was furious when the wide man pulled out of World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Denmark in November 2021 only to be pictured training with Newcastle.

An apology saw fences mended and Clarke selecting Fraser again 10 months later when the player made his last competitive appearance for Scotland against Ukraine.

And a falling out with long-time manager and mentor Eddie Howe saw him relegated to training with the Under-21s at Newcastle triggering the loan back to the south coast.

But Fraser has been a key part of Southampton's record 20-game unbeaten run in all competitions as they chase an immediate return to the Premier League.

And he along with the equally rejuvenated Scotland striker Che Adams is responding well to the coaching style of former international team-mate Russell Martin at St Mary's.
