EAMONN Holmes has opened up about the agony of his split from Ruth Langsford, admitting: "I hope we can still be friends."
The TV veteran, 64, was speaking at the TRIC Awards, where he was nominated in the Best News Presenter category, as well as Best News Broadcast for his work on GB News.
Reflecting on the end of their 14-year marriage, Eamonn added: "I'm not OK. This is not a good time at all."
Struggling with chronic back pain, which meant he required a high-tech wheelchair for the ceremony, he even admitted feeling as if he is on "borrowed time", as his father died at the age of 65 from a heart attack in 1991.
Eamonn has battled multiple health issues over the past few years and admitted he had considered pulling out of attending as he had been in so much pain. However, the wheelchair allowed him to be more comfortable.
He said: "I wasn't going to come but I've got this new chair with all these gadgets."
