THE Princess of Wales will take on a public duty today for the first time since she told of her cancer in March.
She will attend Trooping the Colour but warned she is "not out of the woods" yet.
After months of uncertainty and worry, Kate yesterday delighted the nation by speaking publicly and releasing an uplifting picture.
In a heartfelt message, she was candid about her ongoing battle with cancer and confirmed that she also hopes to attend some summer events, health depending.
In the new picture, she looked serene as she posed under a weeping willow tree in the grounds of the Windsor estate.
It was taken by celebrity and royal photographer Matt Porteous.
But in her first public appearance since announcing she had cancer, Kate warned she will still need preventative chemotherapy for some months.
She thanked the country for its support during the dark days following her diagnosis and praised others who have shared their own experiences of the dreadful disease with her.
The 42-year-old said: "I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months.
"It really has made the world of difference to William and me, and has helped us both through some of the harder times.
"I am making good progress but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.
"On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting.
