Experts claim lack of clarity over government budget for youth work leaves vulnerable youngsters at risk

A "LACK of transparency" from the Scottish Government over youth work spending putting is vulnerable kids at risk, it has been warned.

YouthLink Scotland - a national agency for youth work which represents more than 100 organisations - says it has been unable to track service budgets for years amid a wave of cuts to the sector.

It has called for urgent clarity over where government cash for youth work is going.

The Daily Record launched its Our Kids... Our Future campaign in February to tackle the epidemic of youth violence in Scotland. We have called for the Scottish Government to ring-fence funding to ensure every community has a safe place for children and teenagers.

YouthLink CEO Tim Frew said: "There's no transparency around the data. We need a clearer picture on what is being spent and where it is going.
