LAURIE'S ON ROAD TO GLORY AT LAST

LAURIE CANTER fought back tears after claiming his first DP World Tour title at the European Open in Hamburg yesterday.

The English ace went into the final day in a share of the lead with Guido Migliozzi.

But as the Italian faded, Canter carded a closing oneunder 72 at Green Eagle Golf Courses to finish on 13 under, two shots ahead of Austrian Bernd Wiesberger and Thriston Lawrence of South Africa.

Birdies on the 15th and 16th allowed Canter the luxury of a three-putt bogey on the parthree 17th.

That came minutes after Wiesberger had done the same in the group ahead to effectively end his chances.
