World champ Josh is just latest product of Edinburgh gold mine

JOSH KERR has hailed Edinburgh Athletic Club's unsung heroes who have spawned two 1500 metres world champions in a row.

On the morning after the glorious night before, the golden boy of Budapest confessed yesterday he'd had a few glasses of champagne and not a wink of sleep as he toasted his glory run.

He was joined by some of his capital club-mates - including Jake Wightman, who Kerr deposed as 1500m king.

His gold was just the latest in a string of successes for the Meadowbank production line that has now delivered one Olympic, seven European, three Commonwealth and two world medals in just 11 years.

Kerr admits that something amazing has been built by the backroom team at his boyhood club.
