Marcus Fraser is hoping that Montrose - who did it on the first day of the season at Links Park - will be the answer to that quiz question for years to come.

And he insists that the shock of losing that match 1-0 was the catalyst for an superb run of 10 unbeaten games on the spin - eight of them wins - that have followed.

That sequence has taken St Mirren to second in the top flight and into tonight's cup quarter-final at Easter Road.

The Saints defender believes they have a real chance of emulating the heroes of a decade ago who won the same competition and have their photographs plastered all over the stadium.

But he's been in the game long enough to know there's a long way to go before the flashbulbs are popping. Montrose is still in the memory as proof that anything can happen.
