Mum got warring sons back on speaking terms

JESUS and Mary Chain's Jim and William Reid have told how their rift broke their mother's heart - and how she helped bring them back together.

The East Kilbride brothers formed the alternative rock band in 1983 and were hailed as the next Sex Pistols.

After years of success, a series of high-profile fallouts led the band to split in 1999 for eight years.

The pair, who have published memoir Never Understood, said their mum helped to reunite them.

Jim said: "She was probably more upset than we were when we weren't talking.
