VITAL evidence about the death of dog walker Brian Low "could have been lost" after it took days to launch a murder probe, police have admitted.
The 65-year-old's body was found on a remote track outside Aberfeldy, Perthshire, at 8.30am on February 17.
His death was initially deemed to be medicalrelated and not suspicious but four days later police said they believed Brian had been shot.
A post-mortem on February 23 six days after he was found-confirmed it, sparking a murder probe.
Detective Chief Inspector Martin Macdougall yesterday faced questions over why a post-mortem examination took six days and how a gunshot wound was initially missed.
DCI Macdougall said: "Yes, we appreciate, given the time, some [evidence] could have been lost but we've taken every opportunity since to try to recover everything possible."
