Dessers targeting Parkhead glory strike after VAR denied him first Old Firm goal
FRASER WILSON
NEXT DAY DELIVERY

CYRIEL DESSERS admits he got a taste for being an Old Firm goal hero on Sunday – only to go too early with his celebration thinking he had broken his derby duck.

But the Rangers striker is confident his timing will be spot on by the time the next mouthwatering instalment of this riviting title scrap comes round.

And the Nigerian insists he’ll savour every moment.

The bonkers nature of Sunday’s 3-3 draw was encapsulated perfectly in the 57th minute when Dessers knocked home what he and over 50,000 others inside the ground thought was the leveller with Celtic leading 2-1.

Passion spilled out of Dessers as he tore away fists clenched in front of the Copland stand only for VAR to stop him in his tracks.

Even then, as John Beaton made his way back from the monitor and pointed for a freekick, bedlam ensued as the vast majority of those inside the ground thought he was pointing at the centre spot to award a goal.

But Dessers’ joy was shortlived again and even though his side did eventually salvage what could be a massive point in this sensational top-of-the-table battle the  brox striker is hoping his moment will come in the next few weeks.

The summer signing has come in for plenty of stick in his previous two derbies but showed flashes of his ability on Sunday as he helped tee up Abdallah Sima’s leveller then was an inch away from hitting the net for real with a 98th-minute strike that had the Ibrox faithful off their seats.
