DOUGRAY Scott's son says starring alongside his dad in the latest series of Irvine Welsh's gritty drama Crime is a dream come true.

Gabriel Scott, 25, was inspired to follow in his father's acting footsteps after growing up on movie sets watching Dougray at work.

Former Mission: Impossible star Dougray returns to TV screens this month as troubled Detective Inspector Ray Lennox, with Gabriel playing the role of his student activist nephew.

Both father and son are delighted to be working side by side.

Gabriel said: "I always dreamed I would get to work with my dad but never thought it would happen so early on in my career. He's kind of my hero.

He's what inspired me to start acting in the first place.

"I actually felt nervous to be working with him - my first scene on my first day was with him - but he quickly made me feel very at ease.

"He's someone I consider a master at what he does. To work with him was such a treat." Proud Dougray, executive producer on the show, described working with Gabriel as "wonderful".

The 57-year-old revealed his son had beaten a lot of other young actors to be cast in the role.

Fife-born Dougray said: "I adore him as a human being. I love him, obviously, because he's my son.

"But it's really interesting watching him work.
