Remember her passing and rejoice in her legacy

A DIVIDED House of Windsor shared at least one thing in common yesterday, their ongoing sorrow at the loss of Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince Harry was in Windsor on the first anniversary of her death.

But there was to be no show of unity as his father, King Charles, marked her passing at Balmoral, while his brother, Prince William, was in Wales.

But their feelings have been much the same, summed up in William and his wife Kate's post: "Today we remember the extraordinary life and legacy of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth. We all miss you." The King recorded his own message and said he recalled with "great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us".

He said: "I am deeply grateful, too, for the love and support that has been shown to my wife and myself during this year as we do our utmost to be of service.

As Harry made a surprise visit alone to St George's chapel in Windsor Castle, where Her Majesty was laid to rest last September, William and Kate were greeted by hundreds of wellwishers in west Wales.

They made an emotional pilgrimage to St Davids Cathedral in Pembrokeshire, which Elizabeth II had visited often during her 70-year reign.

Harry, who was at the WellChild charity awards on Thursday night, has not seen his father or his brother during his whistlestop visit to the UK.
